A twist of fate . . .
Devon Ravenel, London's most wickedly charming rake, has just inherited an earldom. But his powerful new rank in society comes with unwanted responsibilities . . . and more than a few surprises. His estate is saddled with debt, and the late earl's three innocent sisters are still occupying the house . . . along with Kathleen, Lady Trenear, a beautiful young widow whose sharp wit and determination are a match for Devon's own.
A clash of wills . . .
Kathleen knows better than to trust a ruthless scoundrel like Devon. But the fiery attraction between them is impossible to deny—and from the first moment Devon holds her in his arms, he vows to do whatever it takes to possess her. As Kathleen finds herself yielding to his skillfully erotic seduction, only one question remains:
Can she keep from surrendering her heart to the most dangerous man she's ever known?
Cold Hearted Rake is another historical romance about the chase. An experienced beautiful man chases and seduces an innocent lady who tries to resist but eventually fails. With Kathleen and Devon alone, I did not like Cold Hearted Rake. For me, it’s boring and something that I have seen before. However, I was really interested with the subplot and side characters.
I have been especially fond of Helen and Mr. Winterborne. Mr. Winterborne has been a mystery in this book which really attracted me to the character. His cruelty to others but softness with Helen was something I really liked. Helen, being timid and shy, makes her another mystery to me. I just wanted to explore these two characters so I really liked that they are the main characters in the next book, Marrying Winterborne. Cassandra and Pandora are very interesting as well. Being very lively, these two seems unladylike and younger than their age. I feel like they would be something new in the Historical Romance genre. Another character that is remarkable for me is West. I just love his personality. So in short, the characters are more interesting with Devon and Kathleen.
Anyways, even if I find this book lacking, I still find this book charming and I would still recommend this book for fans of the genre and for those who are new to Historical Romance.
